Case Study - QuitNow and WIN Contest Survey

Overview

To help British Columbians quit using tobacco, the BC Lung Association, manager of QuitNow Services, offered the QuitNow & WIN contest for BC residents who stayed tobacco-free from January 5, 2010 through and including February 2, 2010.The contest was organized through grant funding by the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport and is supported by ActNow BC.

QuitNow & WIN is an online contest that uses a combination of traditional and social media supports to help people quit smoking. SRI partnered with Feltracco Consulting to evaluate the contest for the BC Lung Association. One of the main components of the contest evaluation was to conduct a follow up survey of approximately 5,500 contest participants.

Objectives

  • Program and host the follow up survey used to evaluate QuitNow & WIN contest participants
  • Merge the data collected from participants at the beginning of the contest with data collected at follow up
  • Analyze intake and follow up data to provide conclusive statistics regarding QuitNow & WIN contest outcomes

Solutions

  • Assisted with the questionnaire design and research methodology for the follow up survey
  • Programmed and hosted the QuitNow & WIN contest follow up survey on SRI's secure platform
  • Managed the selection of participants for follow up, survey email notifications, and email reminders
  • Performed data processing, cleaning, and analyses of all data collected from contest participants
